Managing Addiction
About Addiction
Addiction can be described as devotion, attachment, dedication by an individual to
engage in some specific activity, despite harmful consequences to the individual's
health, mental state or social life. Physical and psychological dependency can occur
with drugs and other miscellaneous substances, gambling, food, sex, pornography,
computers, work, exercise, cutting, shopping, and religion.
How Can Therapy Help?
Therapy helps identify which life situations are most likely to trigger abuse, then
develop alternative plans. Therapy provides support and helps individuals develop
"assertiveness skills" that help them learn how to say no to the addiction. Call our office to schedule an appointment.
