Our Team » About Dr. Jessica Donn Goodman
My Background
I am a licensed Psychologist in Pennsylvania. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, then completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Vanderbilt-VA Internship in Professional Psychology, where I provided individual, group, and couples therapy at the Vanderbilt University Psychological and Counseling Center and also at the Nashville Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center.
I did my postdoctoral training at NorthKey Community Care, a community mental health agency in Northern Kentucky, where I worked on an outpatient substance abuse unit with adolescents, adults, and families, as well as lead an adolescent drug court affiliated intensive outpatient program.
Most recently I came from Rehab After Work, where I focused on drug and alcohol treatment, including leading an IOP and working with individuals and families in recovery from addiction. I have also had experience teaching at the college level and have conducted research in the areas of personal relationships, positive psychology, and attitudes and perceptions.
My clinical interests include addiction and recovery; relationship formation/couples counseling; GLBT issues; career counseling; adult development; stress and coping; positive psychology.
I see therapy as a collaborative practice between
therapist and client, with the therapeutic
relationship a major component in the change process.
In addition to creating this relationship, I will help
clients recognize patterns of behavior and of
interaction with others in order to create healthier
and more satisfying relationships and ways of being in
the world.
I recognize that a person never walks into the therapy
room as an isolated individual, but is one part of a
system interacting with many others. Together we will
explore how the contexts you live in have influenced
who you are today and how they affect the challenges
you face. This will help us better understand the work
we need to do to improve your relationships with
others and overall well-being.
